Aston Villa have re-signed goalkeeper Andy Marshall on a one-year deal, having released the 35-year-old at the start of the summer.Marshall first joined in summer 2009 after leaving Coventry but did not make a first-team appearance last term. “I was released in the summer with the possibility of coming back,” Marshall told the club website. “I’m very thankful to Kevin MacDonald for bringing me back because I have got a good relationship with him.”

Marshall, who will be third choice behind Brad Friedel and Brad Guzman, started out at Norwich before joining local rivals Ipswich in 2001. Three years later he joined Millwall, before a move to Coventry in 2004.
