Tim Sherwood has taken a head count ahead of Aston Villa’s FA Cup derby clash with West Bromwich Albion – and called in the kids to make up the numbers.
Villa have at least seven first teamers injured, suspended or doubtful ahead of the last eight clash against their fierce rivals at Villa Park on Saturday.
Having moved the development squad nearer to the senior pitches to observe them, Sherwood is now involving several academy products in the practice sessions.
Some of the youngsters could also be drafted in to ensure Villa can name a squad of 18 this weekend.

Captain Ron Vlaar is an injury doubt for the 5.30pm kick off against Albion with a calf problem, adding to the claret and blues’ defensive woes.
Sherwood is already without central defenders Nathan Baker and Philippe Senderos, while left-backs Aly Cissokho and Keiran Richardson are also on the treatment table.
Alan Hutton was able to join in today’s training session at Bodymoor Heath, but the right-back is unavailable for Saturday because of a two-match ban after totting up 10 bookings.
Striker Libor Kozak is still sidelined.
